Lettuces and Endives: The breeding program aims at the full range of types for the major markets in Europe and with particular attention to the Italian market.

Our laboratory plays an important role to incorporate resistances against virus and fungus in new lines. The laboratory results together with the performance-data of the newly developed varieties in screening-trials give us the information to select new varieties which can satisfy the needs of the growers in different periods of the year.

The recently started breeding program for endive, escarole and frisee types, points at developing an assortment of varieties, which can allow the European grower to grow varieties of both segments in all seasons of the year. We are currently also introducing varieties that meet the requirements of the processing industry.

ISI Sementi has a lot of collaborations with Institutes and Universities in Italy and abroad: with some organizations breeding programs are jointly set-up, with others we exchange information regarding pathogens, and the like.
